More than 18 years later, Max Payne 2 still stands tall as one of gaming’s finest with a dedicated fan-following still clamoring for a remaster, a remake, or a sequel of any form. The game was released on October 14th, 2003 for the PC, PS2, and Xbox. The unprecedented success of the game quickly called for a sequel, and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was conceived shortly after. Amongst the genre-defining hits that were Grand Theft Auto 3, Halo: Combat Evolved, and others, Remedy Entertainment developed a game that felt way ahead of its time in the form of Max Payne. Exactly. The turn of the century was an important one for gaming, with the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox pushing for more mature and arguably violent experiences over the family-friendly platformers that dominated the last three generations. I really hope Sony gives us a new controller in the next generation. You don't have to account for sensitivity of speed and direction, and since your fingers are already resting on A and D, you can change directions more quickly. When you hold W, you know you are moving exactly straight. The main drawback is that you can only move in eight directions and you don't have analog speed, but digital controls are also more precise in some ways. You have about sixteen (about twenty if you don't mind stretching your index finger) buttons within immediate reach of WASD, and you never have to completely leave navigation like with the D pad. ![]() The keyboard is also far more versatile than the left side of a controller. That makes a lot more sense than switching back and forth between face buttons and the slow stick. Most modern mice let you perform seven actions whilst controlling the cursor/camera with superior precision and speed. The controller has barely changed since the DualShock eighteen years ago, and it's more problematic now that games no longer have fixed cameras and simple controls. But more power to you "keyboard warrior". Me, I'm not afraid of technology and its advancements. I suppose you prefer to use typewriters as well. ![]() Originally posted by Shocker:Maybe because this game is meant to be played with mouse and keyboard? But whatever man, gamers these days don't have patient for anything.
